What handbag secrets do you have? We ask Norwich businesswoman Nicole Pugh what’s in her bag?
After enjoying the high life as an air hostess, Nicole Pugh discovered a new passion - interior design.
Four years ago she opened her first store in Cornwall, before returning to her native Norfolk to open a second Berrys and Grey in the Royal Arcade in Norwich, selling furniture, furnishings and accessories for the home and garden.
“I finished my A-Levels and began working in aviation, initially with Ryanair and then with a private airline,” she says.
“It was an amazing job but I spent a lot of time on standby, so I found myself doing up my house and thinking about interior design. I really loved it and suddenly I realised what had been a hobby had become my passion. I felt I needed a fresh challenge and the idea of my business was born.”
Her parents had moved to Cornwall from Sheringham, where Nicole grew up, so with their help she opened her first shop.
“I loved Cornwall, but had a real longing to come back to Norwich. It is such a vibrant city with a real feeling of togetherness among our independent businesses. I am on the tenants’ board for the Royal Arcade and am part of Norwich BID (Business Improvement District).”
She admits to having a handbag obsession and her current bag is a large Mulberry.
“I think it comes from hunting down all those great discounts on designer bags while travelling with the airline,” she laughs. “I love Mulberry, Dior and Chanel, but actually, it is not so much the name, I love really good quality, well designed, leather bags.” w

I like natural looking make- up. This nude lipliner is great because it transitions from day to night. I love MACac products,, they always look and feel great.
Ted Baker manicure set, £29.99
Although I have my nails done regularly, working in the shop and lugging boxes around really damages them. This little set is perfect to keep my nails good between appointments.
And a little something else . . . …
Aspinal key ring, £30
Because I like to have an enormous bag, I am always losing my keys in it. I love this huge Aspinal key ring because as soon as I delve in my bag I can pretty much find it.
