Barbury International Horse Trials, 28 June 1 July 2012, has announced that it will be selling tickets in advance of its 2012 event at barburyhorsetrials.co.uk or via its ticket hotline 01672 516125. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday 3 October.

Renowned for attracting top horses and riders from around the world Barbury International, set on the stunning Marlborough Downs, Wiltshire, is recognized as a highlight in the Eventing calendar, with the British team as well as other nations marking it as afinal run before the teams are finally selected and announced.

The 2012 Barbury International is set to be a vintage equestrian and sporting occasion, with the competition likely to be the last event for the majority of team horses and riders before the Olympics at Greenwich Park. Furthermore to mark the countdown to London 2012 on the Saturday and Sunday Barbury International are planning a special Olympic send off for Team GB riders.

In July this year the Barbury International came down to a nail biting finish, with the excitement heightened by all the horses and riders going Cross Country (the final phase of the competition) in reverse order of placing following the first two phases, which are Dressage and Show Jumping. Olympic Silver medalist (Sydney 2000) Pippa Funnel took the honours in the prestigious CIC three star competition on board Billy Landretti. Other top names featuring in 2011 included William Fox-Pitt (winner of Burghley 2011 and Team Gold, 2010 World Equestrian Games), Piggy French (Team Bronze 2011 European Championships) and Mark Todd, (Gold Olympic Medalist, Rider of the 21 century and 2011 Badminton winner).

Nigel Bunter, owner of Barbury Castle Estate commented: The 2011 Barbury International attracted record visitors across the four days with the event being a great sporting and family occasion offering something for everyone. As the excitement builds to London 2012 we want to give people the opportunity, particularly those who did not secure Olympic tickets to come and watch some of the top event riders in the world before they head to the Olympics. We are encouraging booking of tickets early as we are anticipating increased visitors and big demand on tickets and to respond to this we are putting tickets on sale early.
