They say that the difference between a good and a bad farmer is a week! This might be true, but come harvest time, weeks turn into days and days into hours...
At aBecketts Vineyard we are about to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the vineyard, and it is always good to see the fruits of your labours when harvest time comes around. We have a tremendous harvest this year with almost 20 tonnes of grapes to pick and press into a range of wines. The quantity and quality is much appreciated as we are on course to be sold out of wine before the year end for the second year in a row, so we know we are doing something right.
Harvest is a great time for community, and we are very thankful to our team of pickers who turn out year after year to help us. Community is very much part of the life of the vineyard: we work closely with schools and community groups, we host tours throughout the year, and we have broadened this with the launch of our Vine Rental scheme so you can not only be part of the community you can have your own vines and your very own wine. Cheers!
