Wiltshire Rare Breeds Trust Survival Support Group

Festival Launch at Brinkworth House

For some time the Wiltshire Rare Breeds Trust Survival Support Group has been considering a one-day show to showcase over 100 different species of once plentiful farm animals, which are now identified as being at risk. As featured elsewhere in the magazine, a show is now planned for 30 August at Brinkworth House, immediately preceding the immensely popular Brinkworth Show on

31 August, and shown are some of the delegates attending a special launch event held in May.

Great Bustard Group – 10th Anniversary Reception

Amongst a group of Wiltshire dignitaries, The Great Bustard Group celebrated the 10th anniversary of its founding, which has now seen a small group of great bustards – once extinct in Great Britain – reintroduced to Salisbury Plain over the last four years. Although the birds are laying and nesting, the males are not yet at breeding maturity, but hopes are high for future breeding seasons.

Wiltshire magazine Lunch

Wiltshire magazine held its first summer luncheon at the fabulous Woolley Grange Hotel in Bradford on Avon, part of the von Essen group.

First words from the Editor

Believe it or not, we’re still getting letters about the piece we ran in the very first issue, back in April, about life in Cherhill (Ride a White Horse). It seems as though heritage is something that really grabs people’s imaginations and we’re hoping to bring you more heritage items like this in the future.
