Antonio Forcione at Corsham Arts Festival

June and July is the season for fairs and festivals in the county, and there are a lot of music festivals included amongst the number. Here's just a flavour of what's on.

20-27 June

Corsham Arts Festival

Corsham Festival is one of the leading small festivals in the South West and has developed a reputation for programming exciting new work by emerging and established British composers. Most of the events this year will be taking place at the Pound Arts Centre. Return visits are being made by Antonio Forcione (described as the Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar) and singer Barb Jungr, who has received international rave reviews for her unique vocal style, to name but two. There's a host of other artists and acts to choose from in this entertainment-packed festival, ranging from gypsy fiddle to stupid strings and puppetry.

11 and 12 July

Salisbury Show

A great day out for the family. No matter what the weather there's something to excite and interest. Enter your dog in the waggiest tail competition or any of the fun classes. There are lots of children's rides and entertainment to keep them amused and classic cars and an auto jumble for dad. Have a go at archery. Enjoy a pint of real ale in the bar while you watch the exciting arena events or listen to the band. Wander around the numerous stalls, crafts and painting demonstrations. Watch the ducks racing back to their flock, with the knowledge that even if your duck does not win, then the Salisbury Hospice has benefited from your support. In the main arena there will be falcons, owls, lurchers, horses, terrier racing, gundogs and lots more. There's also a second arena dedicated to countryside sports. If you want to enter the horticultural and flower arranging competitions send for information. It's fantastic to go into the marquee with friends and find that you have won a rosette and prize.

Enjoy the Wild West area with living history displays and cowboys giving demonstrations. A parachute drop is also planned. For full details of what's on check out the website at www.salisburyshow.co.uk and make a definite date in your diary to attend.

10am-5pm. Hudson's Field, Salisbury (0118 947 8996), www.salisburyshow.co.uk

Admission: Adults 5, OAPs 4.50, under 14s 2 (children in pushchairs free), family ticket (to admit 4) 15.
