Former Grand National winner Bindaree and the hugely popular Blazing Bailey are confirmed as very special guests who will be joining the parade of heroes and rehomed racehorses at the Greatwood Open Day on Sunday 5 June.

Former Grand National winner Bindaree and the hugely popular Blazing Bailey are confirmed as very special guests who will be joining the parade of heroes and rehomed racehorses at the Greatwood Open Day on Sunday 5 June.

In addition, former Badminton and Burghley winner and international event rider Andrew Hoy has also confirmed he will be performing a ridden jumping demonstration on board Cheeky Calimbo and Rutherglen. Hoy, who hails from Australia but now is based near Marlborough, Wiltshire boasts an impressive international competition CV and in addition to winning the only two four star events in England he has also won the four star Rolex Kentucky Three Day event in America as well as individual silver and team Gold in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Bindaree was ridden in every race bar one by former jump jockey Carl Llewellyn with the pair winning the Welsh Grand National in 2003. In 2002 Irish jump jockey Jim Culloty famously won the Grand National on board Bindaree when dramatically clinching the race in the closing stages from Richard Johnson and Whats Up Boys. The Alan King trained Blazing Bailey has logged 12 race wins including several at England and Irelands premier racecourses including Cheltenham (x 3 times), Newbury, Aintree and Punchestown notching his latest victory in January earlier this year at Ffos Lass.

Former and re-trained racehorses Spooks, Bunny, Horizon and Scarlett of the Vale Impi Polocrosse Club in association with Horsewyse will also be demonstrating their skills and the foundations of the sport of polocrosse. Polocrosse is a fast paced and exciting horse sport which is great to both play and watch. The sport is easiest to describe as lacrosse on horseback.

Peppa Pig, a further very special guest for the younger visitors, will also be appearing at various intervals throughout the day with an opportunity to have photos taken with this hugely popular character. Other attractions include; Jockeys Challenge and a Parade of Greyhounds from the West of England Greyhound Rescue Centre and a childrens animal petting area. There will be entertainment for the whole family as well as shopping galore at what promises to be, Greatwoods biggest Open Day yet.

Commenting ahead of the day, Helen Yeadon founder of Greatwood said We are very grateful for all the support everyone has given us, its shaping up into a fantastic day and with so many different demonstrations and displays there is something for everyone. We are also liaising closely with Peppa Pigs people ahead of her appearance at the open day and have taken some extra security measures to deal with the expected excitement from her fans!.
