Salisbury Independents' Week – 2nd – 8th July 2012. Celebrate Our Independents!

Retail Indie Day was started in 2011 and was supported by Mary Portas. It focussed on Independents' Day - July 4th which became a national day of celebration for the independent retail sector.

In Salisbury, Susi Mason of Casa Fina and Theresa Wood of The Strawberry Fox have adapted this idea by inviting all the city's independent businesses to participate. Salisbury has a superb wealth of expertise, fantastic products and services. There is no better time for independent businesses to show people that they can provide excellent customer and after-sales service, niche brands and an enjoyable shopping experience. Indies can be surprisingly competitive on price too.

Independent businesses provide work experience, employment and are the launching pad for many an entrepreneur, creating a vibrant and positive society for us all. The economic input from these businesses is critical to the City. Salisbury Independents' Week aims to raise awareness of the contribution Indies make to our city. During the week we are working to encourage the public to 'buy local' and to support their indies.

Many businesses will have special offers or gifts with purchase and customers can also enter a competition to win a basket of vouchers.

Salisbury needs to retain its distinctive character. It is a beautiful, historic city and we should celebrate our variety of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and service businesses from Salisbury Charter and Farmers market to printers and dry cleaners, from health foods to haute couture. Commit yourself to purchasing from an Indie, youll be amazed how good it feels!
