Gloucestershire based artist Pippa Shennan enjoys nothing more than starting a new commission. Each subject being a new and exciting experience, with its own set of challenges. Pippa feels that its so important to embody, not only a good likeness of the subject but also to allow their personality to shine through too.

The thrill being to slowly build up the picture, with the subject taking shape, their likeness developing. However, the real test comes when the client views the finished work and is truely delighted. That is the best moment of all.

Feedback has always been 100% positive and in a number of cases the client has commissioned further work.

Many of Pippas commissions are for pet portraits and so being an animal lover and pet owner herself, enables Pippa to have a real feel for her subject. Horses, cats and dogs have always been part of Pippas life. Her sister and mum have dogs and Pippa has two Burmese cats and a retired horse. The cats should be expert artists themselves by now, because they spend all day sleeping in her studio, on the best chair (of course!)

Pippa paints in either oil or watercolour and works from photographs provided by the client.

In addition to portraiture, Pippa also specialises in beautiful, botanic paintings. These paintings she successfully exhibits and sells at a number of prestigious venues in London. Recent exhibitions have been with The Royal Watercolour Society, The Society of Botanical Artists and coming up in June, The Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries, London.

Both originals and prints of botanic paintings can be purchased from Pippas current collection or she is very happy to take commissions.
