A pupil from St Margarets Prep School in Calne beat more than 100,000 school children from around the country to reach the national final of The Top Trumps Schools Tournament.

Nine-year-old Lily Scott won her place by beating over 150 pupils at her school, before she travelled to the Science Museum in London for the final.

Despite winning both her heats in London and getting through to the semi final round of the final, Lily was eventually knocked out. Mrs Scott said: We think she did very credibly and we are extremely proud of her.

When interviewed on BBC Radio Wiltshire prior to the final, Lily was asked what she thought her chances of winning were, her response was an honest 50:50! Lily commented that she liked Top Trumps because it is good fun, it builds up tension and its about constant guessing!

Karen Cordon, Headmistress of St Margarets, said Lily did extremely well in the heats at school and showed a real passion for the game. Her dedication and commitment paid off we are all delighted she made it to London and everyone is very proud of her achievement.
