The Barbury International Horse Trials – and now the Wiltshire County Show – attract substantial business support, including Wiltshire magazine as media sponsor
This year will be the fifth that Cirencester-based St Jamess Place Wealth Management have been title sponsors of the event, which runs from 7-10 July. In addition, companies such as Fullers, Knight Frank, Earthline and Masstock Arable have supported the event year after year. New to the Barbury sponsor list in 2011 is TH White, who will be the events vehicle partner for the first time, giving the public the chance to see all the latest range of Land Rovers as well as their huge display of agricultural equipment and services.
Heres what just a few of the business sponsors say about Barbury, and what they have planned for this years event.
Chief Executive, St Jamess Place Wealth Management
Our involvement stems from my own interest in National Hunt horse racing and association with Alan King who trains on the Estate. Nigel Bunter was looking for a long-term sponsor for the Horse Trials and it seemed a perfect match for our company.
Given the Barbury teams aspirations to create a truly premier event in the equestrian calendar, and that it had the potential to attract visitors and competitors who were typical of our clients, made it a real opportunity for us. The event gives both our clients (and potential clients), a very intimate experience of a first-class equestrian competition.
We have been sponsors for five years and have gradually sought to increase the extent to which we promote this event to our clients. We now host a branded marquee in a prime location on site for around 100 clients on both Saturday and Sunday as a way of thanking them for their loyalty and support.
The event is also a good brand-building exercise for us, with a prominent promotional presence at the venue which includes our banners, flags, event programme content and sponsored fences. The St Jamess Place water jump is particularly popular,a nd I am very proud to present the Barbury International Challenge Trophies to the winner of the feature CIC*** event.
We are delighted with our association with Barbury and the consistently good client feedback we receive about how much they enjoy the day.
Managing Director, TH White
Our companys relationship with the present Barbury Estate goes back to 2003, when it was purchased by racehorse owner and Barbury event organiser Nigel Bunter. Besides supplying the Estate with agricultural equipment and farm machinery, our Grasscare Division also provides specialist equipment to support the Estates equestrian business, and our Vehicle Division supplies their 4x4 vehicles.
Today the Barbury Estate lies at the heart of TH Whites trading area, which radiates from our head office in Devizes. So, when the opportunity arose to be a sponsor at the Horse Trials and the Wiltshire County Show, it seemed the natural thing to do. Our attendance will give us the opportunity to renew acquaintances with existing customers and to demonstrate just why youll find us in more fields than you imagine.
TH White Land Rover vehicles will be used as official vehicles at the event, and as the exclusive automotive sponsor of the show spectators will also be able to see (and experience) a range of exciting vehicles and a display of agricultural, grass care and other equipment.
In addition to a TH White cross-country fence, the plan is for a Land Rover vehicle to sit actually in the main arena water jump itself, so theres absolutely no way people will miss us!
Knight Frank International Property Consultants
Knight Frank has been associated with the Barbury International Horse Trials since the very first year. For us it represents an ideal summer hospitality event to entertain our clients with equestrian interests.
It is an extraordinarily good event for us. Guests can see virtually the whole cross-country course from our facility, the catering and the atmosphere are all superb, and we always get good feedback from our clients.
The addition of the County Show means we can widen our invitation list to include clients with agricultural and rural interests as well. And now the two events are combined, the value of our promotional presence through sponsoring a fence and on-event branding is much greater too.
Knight Frank entertain at a number of horse trials events including Badminton. Barbury is very much an up-and-coming event in the calendar and one we hope to continue supporting in the years to come.
Fullers Brewery has been involved in supporting the point to points at Barbury for many years, alongside our sponsorship of other amateur sports the Surrey County Cricket league and some rowing and rugby events. So, our involvement in the Horse Trials and the Wiltshire County Show has sprung from a strong association with the Barbury Estate itself.
We are absolutely delighted that Barbury is now hosting the Wiltshire County Show. I think every county should have its Show, as a focal point for rural interests. It was definitely something Wiltshire was missing. On one level, its all about giving local farmers and producers the opportunity to showcase their fayre, but more importantly, it is about creating a market for them too. Thats something we are very conscious of at Fullers because theres nothing more local than a pub selling food which is produced locally.
Although Fullers brewery is in London, the Fuller family have always been Wiltshire-based and I would say Barbury is one of the countys most beautiful spots. It has always stood for excellence too. Seeing the best riders in the world compete and some of the best local farming has to offer, in such a wonderful setting, has got to be the recipe for a good day out for all the family. SANDY"THWAITES
