ANIMAL SHELTER AWARDED 15,000 GRANT

Bath Cats & Dogs Home is today celebrating after receiving a 15,000 Grant from charitable initiative, the 2011 Pedigree Adoption Drive.

The generous donation to Bath Cats and Dogs Home is part of the national Pedigree Adoption Drive, a charitable initiative, which aims to raise awareness of the UKs ever-increasing issue of dog abandonment.

Rachel Jones, Head of Fundraising at the rescue centre, comments: We are thrilled to receive Pedigrees generous 15,000 Grant and would like to say a big thank you to the organisation for agreeing to support our animals during this financially challenging time. The Grant is a great boost to our funds for kennel building projects taking place in 2012. Rescue centres like ours are continuing to face increasing pressures, with the number of stray and abandoned dogs in the UK reaching their highest in over a decade*.

Katie Wragg, Marketing Manager for The Pedigree Adoption Drive said: In the last four years weve raised over 1million for rescue centres supporting the countrys abandoned dogs and despite the tough economic climate, the amazing public reaction has enabled us to really make a difference to the lives of abandoned dogs across the UK and help give them a bright future.

The Pedigree Adoption Drive works in association with the Petplan Charitable Trust and seeks to raise funds to help find stray and abandoned dogs new and loving homes. This years campaign has raised over 160,000 to help rescue centres just like Bath Cats and Dogs home continue the invaluable work they do with abandoned dogs. All of the funds raised have been distributed through a grant system which will benefit shelters belonging to the Association of Dog and Cat Homes.
